The Africa–Europe Digital Innovation Bridge (AEDIB) seeks to strengthen a common digital innovation ecosystem by supporting digital innovation and start-ups in Africa and by facilitating collaboration between European and African ecosystems. It is an initiative supported by the European Commission and EU Member States under the Digital4Development (D4D) Hub.
AEDIB promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capacity building to advance inclusive and sustainable digital transformation. It focuses on connecting innovators, policymakers, private sector actors, and ecosystem enablers to create stronger cross-continental linkages and foster the growth of digital entrepreneurship.
The session aims to:
- Explore how Africa–Europe collaboration can accelerate digital innovation and entrepreneurship
- Highlight successful initiatives and partnerships fostering sustainable digital ecosystems
- Mobilizing the private sector to support inclusive digital growth
- Facilitate dialogue among stakeholders to identify shared priorities for digital cooperation
- Building an enabling environment for digital skills and entrepreneurship
Mobilising Private Capital for Digital Transformation and The Benefits of Greening Digital Transformation

Panelists will discuss innovative financing instruments and mechanisms that European Development Finance Institutions (DFI’s) need or have available, for mobilising private finance for digital transformation. The discussion will also explore how project promoters can incorporate greening and additionality criteria from the outset and thus leverage blended finance mechanisms.

Through its International Digital Strategy and the Digital4Development (D4D) Hub, the European Union (EU) is advancing a vision for a human-centric, secure, and sustainable digital future. The EU’s approach emphasises values-based partnerships, innovation, and inclusivity, positioning European companies as trusted partners in Africa’s digital transformation.
This session will showcase the EU Tech Business Offer, highlighting innovative, sustainable, and scalable solutions aligned with Africa’s priorities. It will illustrate how European technology, African entrepreneurship, and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) can work together to achieve mutually beneficial digital partnerships under the AU–EU Digital Economy Partnership.
