Patrick Benon, CEO of Orange Cameroon, is a seasoned telecom executive with over 17 years of leadership experience across several African countries. He holds a PhD in Telecommunication and Computer Science from Telecom ParisTech and has a history of driving transformational change. His leadership at companies like Benin Telecoms, Orange Centrafrique, and Orange Botswana resulted in significant improvements in revenue, market position, and operational efficiency.
Since his appointment at Orange Cameroon in 2021, Patrick has implemented a comprehensive 360° transformation program focused on enhancing employee engagement, improving customer experience, and promoting digital inclusion. Under his guidance, Orange Cameroon has achieved notable milestones, including an 18.3% revenue growth and a 44% increase in EBITDA in the first half of 2024. Additionally, the launch of the Maxit super-app and expansion of Orange Digital Centers across five regions have further solidified Orange's leadership in the market. Patrick's innovative approach has positioned Orange Cameroon as a market leader, driving sustainable growth and technological advancement.
Muhammad Ali Bhikhan, Absa Regional Operations
Muhammad Ali Bhikhan is a visionary technology executive with over two decades of experience driving digital transformation and operational excellence across various industries, including telecommunications, banking, and retail. As the Chief Information Officer for Absa Regional Operations (ARO) in Retail and Business Banking, Muhammad oversees technology services across ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Kapil Reesaul, Mauritius Telecom
Kapil Reesaul is a seasoned telecom executive with over 30 years of experience, known for his transformative leadership in the telecommunications and ICT sector. Holding advanced degrees in Cable Networking Engineering, Fiber Optics, Electronics, and Automation, Kapil has shaped the future of telecom across multiple countries and continents. From leading Mauritius Telecom’s ISP services as General Manager to revolutionizing customer experiences as Chief Customer Experience Officer and taking on various leadership roles, Kapil’s contributions are instrumental in the company's evolution.
After spending years abroad, including at the Royal Bank of Canada, Kapil returned to Mauritius Telecom as CEO in 2022, inheriting a company in crisis. With a people-first approach, he focused on rebuilding employee morale, enhancing customer relations, and ensuring financial stability. His leadership saw a 44% EBITDA growth and solidified Mauritius Telecom’s position as a leader in innovation. Under his guidance, the company launched new initiatives, such as the T3 submarine cable, which positioned Mauritius as a future-ready cyber island. Dejan Kastelic, Vodacom Group
Dejan Kastelic, Chief Technology Officer for Vodacom Group since 2020, has been instrumental in transforming the company from a traditional telco into a leading African technology provider. With over 20 years of global experience in telecommunications, Dejan has driven innovative initiatives such as Vodacom's Rural Coverage Acceleration Programme, expanding connectivity to remote communities across Africa, and led efforts in digital financial inclusion through platforms like M-Pesa, which processes $400 billion annually. His leadership has also been pivotal in the development of space-based mobile networks and the 2Africa subsea cable project, which enhances 4G, 5G, and broadband access across the continent.
Dejan's commitment to sustainability is evident in Vodacom's renewable energy initiatives, including partnerships to reduce carbon emissions and expand green energy solutions. He has also championed the empowerment of women in technology through programs like "Code Like a Girl," reaching thousands across Africa.
