MainOne is West Africa’s leading provider of Connectivity and Data Center services. With the objective of bridging the digital divide between West Africa and the rest of the world, the Company built a 7,000km submarine cable, the first private subsea cable to deliver open-access, broadband capacity to West Africa in 2010, heralding the explosion in internet access witnessed across the region. MainOne currently connects over 10 countries with interconnections to leading regional operators and Internet Exchanges worldwide, multiple Points of Presence (PoPs) and extensive fiber builds to provide global reach to its customers.

Its subsidiary, MDXi, an Equinix Company, is West Africa’s leading Data Center company. Its carrier neutral Data Centers with combined capacity of 5 MW across the key markets of Nigeria, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire provide access to all leading Internet Exchanges, network providers and ISPs in the West African region. These Data Centers are certified to PCI DSS, ISO 27001, ISO 9001 standards and SOC 2 Audited.

The Company provides access to the largest West African interconnection ecosystem by enabling customers interconnect with each other and major network and content providers in the West African sub region. This has been further strengthened by the recent partnership with the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) to launch AMS-IX Lagos, which aims to become an important content hub for West Africa, enabling regional and local ISPs, carriers, and Internet Exchanges to aggregate content from large global Content Delivery Networks, hosting companies and application providers.

MainOne was acquired by Equinix, the world's digital infrastructure company™ in 2022, to augment Equinix’s long-term strategy of becoming a leading African carrier-neutral digital infrastructure company, bringing a full range of transformative technologies and connectivity to the continent.
