Twave Limited is a Ugandan agri-tech startup founded in 2023 that is transforming aquaculture through AI-powered automation. As a participant in the Qualcomm Make in Africa (QMIA) mentorship program, the company is developing an automated solar fish feeder integrated with Arduino Uno Q technology and mobile monitoring capabilities. Its solution uses intelligent, demand-based feeding to reduce feed waste, improve fish health, lower operating costs, and increase farm productivity. By addressing one of aquaculture's biggest challenges, where feed can account for over 75% of production costs, Twave supports more sustainable and profitable fish farming practices. Led by a multidisciplinary team of five professionals, including aquaculture and engineering experts, Twave has already deployed its minimum viable product with farmers and research institutions in Uganda. The company has also earned recognition through the Ayute Africa Challenge and the Uganda-Japan Connect Project, reflecting its growing impact on sustainable food systems and aquaculture innovation across Africa.
